Last Week's Recitals and My Birthday

Mom said I'd tell you about the recitals, so here we go - the one on Thursday night was 2 hours long! I played in 2 "duos" - piano duets, only with 6 pianos (the church has one grand one and two small uprights and the "studio" rents 3 grand pianos) - three people played each part. They were "Joyful, Joyful" and "Assurance Medley". It's a lot of fun practicing the duos with other people and a nice break from drilling on classical music!

Some of my other favorite pieces were a 6 year old boy playing the "William Tell Overture", the same boy playing a duet with his uncle who is blind, 6 middle school age boys playing "Maple Leaf Rag" and wearing top hats, and the "Concerto in A Minor, Op.16, First Movement" by Grieg played by my teacher's niece - the thought of memorizing that song....

Then on Friday night, I played "Come Thou Fount" with two other ladies, and since it was mostly younger students that night, I got to play my solo at the end - "Sonata in A Major, OP 120, D 664, 3rd movement" by Schubert - that's what the video clip is of.

Since I'm posting anyway....today is my 22nd birthday - 21 was a great year and I'm looking forward to whatever God has for the next! We're having a nice quiet day at home after our busy weekend :)

  2. You recitals sound like they were fun...I wish I could have been there!! Matthew, Elise, and Jonathan (as well as the McClarys) played in one yesterday afternoon that went for an hour and a half...it gets sooooo long when it's all younger, unexperienced players. Oh well. Anyway, Happy Birhtday (again)!!! :)
