Petunia Planting 2009

Today our crew of 14 planted petunia's in town. There were a total of about 14,500 flowers! It was close to a mile and a half along the highway and a few other flower beds. It's our 7th year of planting, and later weeding, the petunia's for the local window company. Naomi and Rebekah arranged the flowers in flats so that no two packs of colors were too close together. Then Arthur goes along with his "custom" made hoe and makes the holes for planting. Miriam goes along and drops 4-packs, and then the planters go along and plant them one pack at a time. When they're done with their 4-pack, they jump up and run to the front of the line and start all over - kinda like leapfrog.

I'm sure there's going to be some petunia's floating in heads tonight! It was a nice day, well, as nice as any we've had lately. It's suppose to get down to 34 a couple of nights so please pray with us that it won't freeze!

  2. Now that's a LOT of flowers! My family and I drove through a little town in ND once that had Petunias planted along the main road all the way through town. They were so cheerful. :)

We too are praying that it doesn't freeze any more this Spring, as it would be bad for our alfalfa, not to mention a lot of other things. God knows best though...
