New Dresses!

Hello from Naomi! Today we went on a "shopping trip" to Thief River Falls, something we don't do very often - we only had one thing really we wanted to buy - a dress for Miriam for her graduation. So Dad dropped Miriam, Mom, and I off at a clothes store while he went to some hardware store or something. We had a lot of fun :) She tried on half-a-dozen, but we pretty much agreed on the same one - then we went to another store and found another one that was really pretty, so we got two! But one was half-off and the other was second-hand so we felt like we got good deals and can you really ever have too many pretty clothes? (one is brown and aqua and the other is black)

On the way home, we stopped at a gun show - in case you've never been to one (I hadn't), it really isn't a gathering of militant terrorists or mass murderers! Pretty much everyone was normal looking and in addition to guns, there were also tables selling cabin-style decorations, baking mixes, random "stuff" - and coins. What coins have to do with guns I haven't figured out yet...but we got to see a real $5oo bill (with William McKinnly on it) and a $1000 bill (with Grover Cleveland). Oh yes, and the gun show was held in a public school. So anyway, it was sort of interesting.
While we were gone, Hosanna happened to see this butterfly/moth in our small entryway - it still looks like Christmas outside, so we don't know where it came from...

Proverbs 4:23 - Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.
Psalms 119:11 - Thy Word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against Thee.

  1. I love to read your posts. I am happy that your beautiful Miriam got 2 dresses at at a great price. I often think that the only thing for fun than getting a new dress is getting one at a bargin! The gun show sounds interesting. Over here, we keep hearing that things like that are on the rise in the States due to fear of dictatorship. Here, there are no lisences or shows. It's easy to but even an automatic on most streets - kind - of scary. Anyway, thanks for your posts. your cheery country stories and love of God offer me both challenge and comfort when I am homesick. Love, Stacey-jean

  2. You should post some pix of Miriam wearing her new dresses!!! It's hard to tell what they look like otherwise, and I'd love to see them!! What day is the graduation? Our church one is May 31 this year...it's kinda late, but when you have to work around so many schedules it gets like that. :)
BTW, I really like the new pic you put on of Amos, Rebekah, and Daniel!!!! It's a really nice pic of them!!

  3. Rachel, we thought about having Miriam model her dresses but she didn't want anyone to see them before she wore them. Graduation is April 26. We have a "Coming Events" list on the blog that tells of things coming up in our family. Stacey - yes, I think people are afraid of dictatorship and are stocking up on guns. Up here, there are gun shows all the time and have been for years. Mostly, I would guess, it's because hunting is a really big thing. It's also the "man" thing to do, going to a gun show with your sons and that's where all the local men get together to visit :)
