Isaac got his first bear yesterday. 215 lbs. Nice boar. Yes, I believed him when he said it started climbing the tree he was in after he shot it and then it fell back. Not quite that dramatic, but it's nice, Isaac!
It was about 10 miles from here by some friends house. We do have one that's been seen a little too close to us but I guess there's a lot of them this year.' Usually they stay south of us in the forest but they're coming out to eat all that good corn in farmers' fields.
Your commentto me: "And yes, we do eat bear meat, at least now we do! I was a little skeptical about it, but it was a young, corn eating bear and it tastes just like venison."
I thought you were going to tell me that bear meat tastes like chicken!
Yikes! A bear! Was it near your farm when Isaac found it? Hooray for brave people. :)

ReplyDeleteWOW! Do you have to have a permit to shoot bears where you are? That is so exciting for Isaac! What an addition to the collection!
ReplyDeleteWow! Nice bear. You will have a nice rug. :) I have heard that bear fat makes wonderful soap........will you be using it? JNC
ReplyDeleteYes, Isaac did have a license to get his bear. Did you want some of the bear fat, JC? Isaac thought he could still get it.
ReplyDeleteWOW!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat job :) We're proud of you!
ReplyDeleteYes, I would love some of the fat if you still can get it. Will share the soap when we get it made if it turns out nice. Thanks
ReplyDeleteI'm glad we haven't seen bear on our place, although just north of us a teenager was treed by a bear. Do you eat bear meat?
ReplyDeleteJonathan was wondering if anyone in your family left a 10 round 10/22 magazine at Dagley's during Appleseed? No one has claimed it.
Thanks!
