This Fall...

...We will be doing our corn maze in the shape of the Titanic.  Not necessarily this one because we have a few designs to pick from.  I'm sure some of you are sick of hearing about the Titanic but we have been planning this for a long time so we're excited.  The actual theme is "Heros of the Titanic" with the emphasis on those that did heroic things.  Hopefully we can inspire men and boys especially, to do what's right even if it you loose your life over it. There are some wondeful Titanic tracts out there!

So, who were some of these heros?  Well, you've probably heard of John Harper who went person to person witnessing in the ocean till he died.  Even giving his lifejacket to a lost person who later did get saved.

You will have to wait for the actual names, I don't have them on the tip of my tounge, but there was the 12 year old boy who was told to get in the ship with the women and children and he said there were still women and girls left so let them go first. He died with his father.

There were single ladies who gave up their seat on the lifeboats so that married ladies with children could have the seats.

There was the band that played to the end, the captain who went in the water to help people get in lifeboats and after being asked to save himself, swam back to the ship.  There were the 50 young bellboys, none of them made any attempt to get in a lifeboat.

You'll have to show up at the maze to hear more.  It might not seem important to some to encourage men to be heroes.  There was one ship that went down in the Indian Ocean and the rule was men only in the lifeboats.  God, however, tells us in the Bible,

 John 15:13
"Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends."

Have a wonderful Lord's Day tomorrow!
