Sunday Thoughts

Please pray for our country.  Pray that as christians we would humble ourselves before God to forgive our sins and ask for His blessing once again on our nation.  Pray that as christians we would reach out to the lost and that lives would be changed throughout our country for now and eternity.  We want our grandchildren to grow up in a free America like we have had for so many years.  This will only happen if we as christians do our part and share the gospel and live like we really do love God.  Sometimes when I see christians around the country and the things we do I am so grieved.  No wonder God withholds his blessings.

This fall our state is suppose to have a marriage ammendment vote on the ballot.  There is much opposition to this not only from our own secretary of state who has changed the wording for the ballot from what it was suppose to read to businesses that are using their money to fight it.  One of these companies is General Mills.  You've probably bought their cereal or something quite a few times.  May I ask you to stop buying their products?  These products include Hagen Dazs, Nature Valley, Cheerios, Wheaties, Betty Crocker, Cheerieos, Pillsbury, Lucky Charms, Yoplait, and lots more.  Until they change their stance we need to show how we feel by not buying their products.  I often sigh at boycotts of products because I wonder if it does any good.  But this hits so close to home.  This is my state.  My children's state and my grandchildren's state.

If you're like me and you look at this country you get a tired feeling.  It seems like so much has been done to save it and yet we keep slidding towards socialism or worse.  I get tired of being asked for money to fight wrong.  I get tired of hearing from candidates that really are good.  A boycott doesn't seem like much but it is something I can do.  May I encourage you to do something?  Will you pray?

  1. Dear K family.
I've been reading your blog for several years, I admire your zest for life, your undoubted love for your children and grandchildren and your photography.
However I will no longer be reading your blog as your stance towards this issue disgusts me. Additionally I will make extra effort to source products from the companies you list and support them. I hope soon the issue of a man marrying a man will become as commonplace as women having the rights to vote and black people sitting at the front of the bus, because at the end of the day, it's a civil right.
Sincerely and sadly, a former reader.

  3. I found this blog due to someone who is going to boycott your blog because of your stand for marriage. I want you to know that I support your blog and your stand for marriage. Thank you for standing up for principles that are right.

  4. I too, will pray to God that your state STANDS FOR MARRIAGE FOR ALL hetero or homo-sexual. I will pray that God will lead others to come to know in their hearts, that love between two adults of the same gender, is the same LOVE that a man & women experience. It is the same love JESUS preached!
As such, I will be telling all my friends to continue to buy from the companies you've listed, because they've support lifestyle that create love, and ultimately live out Jesus' message.
    Blessings to your family :D

  5. A free country is only free so long as everyone has the same freedoms, including the freedom to marry another consenting adult of their choosing regardless of gender or biological sex. The only thing your post about "fighting to keep America" free does is highlight your hypocrisy.

  6. True freedom is found in truth. The only real truth is found in Jesus Christ. Living for Him and abiding by His principles and standards in God's Word, the Bible, out of love for Christ, because He first loved us and died for us and rose from the dead. His very first standard in Genesis is marriage of a man and a woman, nothing else. May those that appose find real truth in Christ Jesus my Lord. That is real freedom. Don't let the Devil fool you to think that what you have is truth. Search God's Word for the truth, because that is the only real truth.
God Bless you K family. We will be praying and have been praying. May God have mercy on us.

  7. 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 NKJV 9 Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor HOMOSEXUALS, nor SODOMITES, 10 nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God.

  8. Thank you for giving me a list of companies to support. Equality is important. Jesus said that we should love one another- who cares of a man marries a man or a woman marries a woman- how does this effect you? What harm does it do you? In the end all will be judged and if it is God's will will rise into eternal life. Who said we on earth are to judge? That is God's role!

  9. I will tell you who cares and who it hurts when women marry women and men marry men, or lie, steal, murder, gossip, or any other sin listed in the Bible. God does. All sin is sin according to God and requires a penalty of just punishment. (see Romans 6:23) The sin doesn't matter, whether lying, stealing, murdering, or homosexuality. It is all sin. We are all sinners in need of God's grace and forgiveness according to Romans 3:23 & Romans 5:8. Sin hurts God and He cares, no matter what the sin is. We are not putting down the person. God loves everyone and wants all to come to Him through His Son, Jesus Christ, but God does hate the sin, no matter what the sin is. Homosexuality is a sin, not just a way of life, that is why God destroyed Sodom & Gomorrah in Genesis 19:4-25. God also commands us to procreate. God created them male and female. (see Genesis 1:27&28) You can't procreate if you live a homosexual life, it is physically impossible. Jesus Christ died for everyone, including homosexuals, but if you accept Christ as saviour you are not supposed to continue in your sin, no matter what the sin is, out of love for Christ, but also because God wants us to be clean & holy before Him and so He will hear and answer our prayers. He will not hear our prayers if we are living in sin and haven't gotten right with Him first. (see I John 1:9, Psalm 66:18 & Proverbs 28:9)
All of these things are what God Almighty says. If you have a problem with people saying what God Himself says in His Word, then you need to discuss it with God.
    Thank you so much.

  11. I was thinking about how to respond to comments when anonymous comment #9 said almost exactly what I would have said. Thank you to whoever wrote that. I do know that God loves everyone, after all, he made us. I also know that just because something seems right, is legally right, and even accepted by the general public, does not always make something right. I have to stand by the one man one woman as the only right way of marriage as much as it might offend people. I believe it's what the Bible teaches and that is what I try to live by. I encourage anyone who is struggling in this issue to search the scriptures and see what it has to say. I just mentioned to my kids a few days ago that it would be fun to do a post where we got lots of comments. I really wasn't expecting it to be this post! Thank you though for all your comments. There's not many things I hate more than offending people but I have to stick by what I believe is right. Again, search the scriptures for yourself.

There are billions of moral, decent people in the world that don't believe in your God or your Bible. Why must they live by your rules? Comparing two adults who love each other to lying and stealing and such is just ridiculous. Please get over yourself.

Also: God also commands us to procreate. God created them male and female. (see Genesis 1:27&28) You can't procreate if you live a homosexual life, it is physically impossible.

What of infertile couples? They are physically unable to procreate. Should infertile individuals be barred from marrying?

If you don't like gay marriage, don't get one, but don't try to make a bunch of people try to live in your biblical fairytale if they don't want to.

  13. The Founding Fathers intended for the USA to be a free nation; free from the dictatorship of religion ("Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion...") To continue to outlaw same-sex marriage is a serious violation of this intent, and (if using religion as a foundation) of the First Amendment to the Constitution. Jesus also had something to say on this front: "...Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's; and unto God the things that are God's." — Matt. 22:21 The context of this verse refers to taxes, but I don't see why it can't be used in relation to civil marriage.

If you insist on boycotting the products/brands mentioned (which I will in turn, continue to support), I suggest you also boycott the following: Allstate, Amazon, American Airlines, Apple, Applebee's, Best Buy, Clorox, Coca-Cola, Costco, Delta Airlines, Facebook, Ford, Gap, General Motors, Gerber Baby Products, Hilton Hotels, Home Depot, Levi's, Marriot International, McDonald's, Microsoft, Nationwide, Nike, Olive Garden, Pepsico, Proctor and Gamble, Red Lobster, Rite Aid, Sears, Southwest Airlines, Starbucks, State Farm, Target, United Airlines, UPS, Walgreens and Walt Disney. All support GLBTQ equality and I'm sure there are many more.

Same-sex marriage also has nothing to do with socialism.

  14. I don't care that you believe the bible says one man one woman. The bible has no legal pull.

The CONSTITUTION forbids the state from creating a state religion, which has been interpreted to mean that we separate church from state. And that is the way it is. IF you believe in this country and it's founding principles, then equal rights for ALL. That means that you should be supporting this.

As a Christian, if you want to continue to practice Christianity, you have to let other people practice their religion or none at all. Otherwise the first amendment is meaningless.

Feel free to pray and to vote however. But know that if you vote against this, you are voting against equal rights and separation of church and state.

I don't buy most of those products now, as they are all laden with sugar and fat and HFCS, but I might start buying some of the healthier items and donating them the food bank.

  16. The Bible is clear that Sodomy is a sin. If you do not recognize God and the Bible as the standard for what is morally right and wrong, and what is right and wrong for a nation, then you have no rational, consistent basis to say anything is right or wrong. One can say the government or popular oppinion determine what right and wrong are, but by what standard is the government or majority oppinion correct. Let God be true and every man a liar.
