ISC - Crowds and Competition

It seemed like everybody at convention had an accent! There were about 2500 people there from all over world - Haiti, Australia, the United Kingdom, Honduras, the Cayman Islands, Puerto Rico, the Phillipines, Canada, South Africa, and Mexico had the largest groups, with a few from some other countries as well. Of course, most people were from the US - 36 of the states, including Alaska. 63 people from Minnesota were there and California and Texas had the largest representations. The last time we went was in 2005 and there were only half a dozen homeschools, but this year there were a lot, so that was really neat to see!

This is Hosanna, Isaac, and Miriam getting ready to do "Bible Bowl" with Dr. Dell Johnson behind them. All four of the kids competed in archery, Isaac did chess and table tennis, Miriam, Hosanna, and Silas did a Bible memory test and Miriam and Hosanna did Consecutive Word Count (where you start where ever you want in the Bible and quote until you make a mistake - Miriam said the book of James, and Hosanna said 3 1/2 chapters from Proverbs.) Also, Miriam and Hosanna had both memorized Proverbs (one chapter at a time) and Miriam had memorized John during the school year as one of the do-ahead projects. They kept pretty busy with those competitions and Dad was a pingpong/table tennis judge, so we hung out there some when weren't doing anything else.
