Winter is Coming...

Priscilla is enjoying playing with the puppies and brings them in the house everyday to show us. In case you're wondering, it's a cowprint apron she's wearing.

Winter is coming. We built a fire in the wood stove today and it feels so good! Isaac has been working on the electric heater in our kitchen this morning trying to get the fans working. He has stuff all over so I thought I would just leave my work till he's done.

With all the rain we've had this fall, the fields are still too wet to get the flax and silage done. Everyday we get calls from people wanting to buy flax straw and they don't always understand how you just can't get straw when the field is too wet. Oh well. Maybe this week with a few sunny days things will dry up. Meanwhile the guys put some cement in a grain bin and have been working on building a good corral for when the beef cows get TB tested in a couple of weeks and also some other fencing projects. The girls and I are continuing to finish up garden stuff. We have a couple boxes of tomatoes left and a bunch of carrots still in the ground. Miriam has been dehydrating apples and has 11 gallon jars full. I think what's left we'll just keep for fresh eating. We also have at least one good day of chicken butchering to fit in.

God is so good. Everyone around here has been saying what good gardens they've had this year. An elderly neighbor whose wife died a couple of weeks ago stopped in for a visit. He gave us a bunch of gourds earlier that sit in a bowl on our table. He misses his wife so if you think of it, pray for him. He's also battling some health issues.

The trees are almost bare now. I love fall. I love it when the work is done and we can sit back and enjoy being in our warm house in the winter without gardening, lawn mowing, and the heat to contend with. Well, Isaac tells me he fixed the heater and so I better get back to work. Have a great day in the Lord!
