In Memory

"Helen Giesbrecht"
1916-2010

We found out this morning that my Grandma died during the night.  She was 94 and is now home in glory with the God she has loved for many years.  If there's anything I will always remember about Grandma, it's that she was a praying lady.  From the day I was born, most likely from the day my mom announced she was pregnant, she prayed for me, and later Arthur, and each of the children, by name every single day that she was able until the last couple of years when her memory started to fade.  Even then, she prayed for her "grandchildren although I don't remember all their names".  Grandma was a pastor's wife for many years and then in later years excelled at hospitality by having lots of missionaries stay at her house and lots of different ministries held their regular meetings at her house.  She was elegant, a great housekeeper, fantastic cook, and devoted wife.  She left a wonderful example of a godly woman for all that knew her to follow.

"Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints."
Proverbs 116:15

Please pray for me as I share memories from a grandchilds point of view at her funeral.  The photo was taken at her 90th birthday.  What a glorious day that will be when we see all our loved ones up in heaven!

  3. I too am sorry to hear of your grandmother... May the Lord help you through this time of sorrow, for indeed I've learned, there is sorrow at the parting of a loved one, even if we know they're now happier than they've ever been--in the presence of our King!

    Blessings~
