Protective Mama Cows

Just a short story to give you a smile.

Today Isaac was out working with a pen of cows.  He took one of the calves to tag and vaccinate it and all the 35 or so mama cows in that pen got a little defensive, maybe curious, and surrounded Isaac against the barn wall.  He assured me there was no danger, we have nice cows, and Arthur came along to distract them. I love how all the cows protect a calf.  We've seen them do this over and over whether it's a person, dog, or whatever.  It's kinda like at church when all the mothers look out for each other's children ;)

Such is life on a beef farm.
