What We've Been Up To

The garden is finished and plowed under!  Always a good feeling when we reach that point.  My wonderful mother-in-law gave me some giant cabbages so I made two gallons of sauerkraut.  I've always wanted to try this and finally did.  So far, it tastes really good!  Did you know that fermented sauerkraut is a really good immune booster, has lots of good bacteria similar to yogurt, and they say it has cancer fighting properties.  Guess it's a good thing my family loves sauerkraut!  Mmm, sauerkraut pizza anyone?  M&K's makes the best!

The beef cows were rounded up for some vaccinating before shipping in a few weeks.  This is quite the job! Thankfully there were no problems and no mean cows or bulls causing problems.

Miriam has been helping sand the walls in the addition.

Hosanna and Priscilla have been helping too.  What a dirty job!  When they get done I'll do a final coat on the walls and the ceiling will need a few coats yet.

Miriam painted the boards for the outside window and door trim.

Hosanna took advantage of the "work room" and painted her chalk drawing board.

Priscilla got her cousins together and with Arthur's help, they passed out over three hundred 180 DVD's in a nearby town.  Normally we don't do Halloween but there is no other night in the whole year where people are thrilled to open their doors for you!  Most are quite surprised to be given something instead of taking something.

  1. Interesting! I've never made sauerkraut, but I do like it! Good Halloween activity! Give instead of take--wonderful idea.
